Support for Parents and Young Children

Parents of children 5-10

If you’re the parent or carer of a child aged 5-10, and are looking for some support for their emotional wellbeing you’ve come to the right place. Compass BUZZ aims to improve the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people across North Yorkshire. We have created this area for you as parents to help your children understand their feelings. It is a safe place, that will hopefully help you begin conversations and encourage your children to speak about their problems rather than bottling them up.

It can be really hard for children trying to understand all of their different emotions. By helping your child to understand what is happening and how this is making them feel, can help them to express their feelings appropriately. Sometimes not understanding all of our different feelings can be too much for a child and they may behave in different ways. Try to remember your child is learning how to manage their feelings and this can be different for each individual child.

As children learn to regulate their emotions and build their resilience, their confidence will also improve. As parents and careers you can help your child to manage their feelings. Let’s start with four of the most common problems for children.

Navigate around the four bees for help and advice for your child.
